Description

Northwest Branch Creek is a tributary to the Anacostia River and over the course of its existence has carved out the stream valley in which the boulders sit. In doing so the stream has exposed some metamorphic schistose and a little sandstone which has been weathered down to the boulders we see today.

What we see there now is, for the most part, a few scattered and exposed boulders around what is now a runoff area for the surrounding neighborhoods.
