Hartman Rocks recreation area is a local favorite amongst the students of Western State College of Colorado. A lot of the old granite is rotting, but there are many solid areas as described in this mini guide. This area boasts a lot of slabby, frictiony, technical and overall fun climbing of all persuasions. However, due to local bolting ethics, many of the sport climbs may seem runout. This just means that somewhere along the route there is somewhere to place gear. So make sure to bring your rack! Plus there is a lot of undone territory with some sweet gear potential.
