After Hueco's restriction of 1996, Americans found a new winter destination in the Happy Boulders. The area was highly hyped and attracted the masses. It wasn't long before climbers rediscovered old classic areas like the Buttermilks and established many new areas. Still, the Happies remain the most popular area around Bishop.
